Create a better world through gaming

You may not think about creating change through gaming, but an entire generation has grown up with gaming that simulates real-life (or near real-life) challenges to overcome. While the military and scientists have embraced simulation for some time now, community leaders and policy makers have been slower to embrace the technology. IBM is changing that.

IBM’s interactive simulation game CityOne is, according to the technology giant, “designed to help business and civic leaders discover how to make their cities and industries smarter by solving real-world business, environmental, and logistical problems.” Players can engage in over 100 scenarios to “transform cities through technologies that reduce traffic congestion, save water, streamline supply chains and tap alternative energy sources.” How else might we use gaming to promote healthier, more sustainable communities?
